A MEMORIAL to a police officer who was killed on duty in Blackpool 45 years ago has been unveiled. Supt Gerry Richardson was shot as he tackled a gunman following an armed robbery on a jewellery shop in the resort. The memorial has been placed at his former grammar school, which is now Aspire Academy.
