Ian Rodgers memorial

A LASTING memorial to the first GMP officer killed on duty is now in place.

PC Ian Rodgers was killed in 1975 when he was moving children off a railway line in Reddish and he was hit by the train. His wife Pauline was at the ceremony this week and planted the tree. It was also attended by his two grown up sons Daniel and Andrew and GMP Deputy Chief Constable Ian Hopkins.

Attending from GMP Federation were chairman Ian Hanson, secretary Karl Thorogood and Equality Lead Ian Saunders.
