APPROXIMATELY 120 bike riders from London and the South East have signed up for this year’s UK Police Unity Tour.

Cyclists will ride to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire under the slogan “we ride for those who died”. This year’s event promises to be bigger than ever as officers join from around the country.

The London and South East Unity Tour will leave New Scotland Yard on Friday 24 July to arrive two days later.

Each participant will ride in memory of a fallen officer, with memorial wristbands being presented to their family members on arrival.

Riders will also be leaving from Norfolk and Leicestershire as groups leave from different locations in the country for the first time. Police Scotland is also organising a tour, but due to the distance it is likely to be held in Scotland beforehand.

Riders are a mixture of serving officers, from Chief Constable downwards. Survivors will also be taking part in the ride.

This year the tour will be sponsored by Capita, Police Mutual, ISM saddles, London Midland Trains, Coca-Cola and Sainsbury’s supermarkets.
