THE Care of Police Survivors family has been saddened to learn of the death of survivor Sue Bishop.

Sue’s husband Acting Essex Sgt Brian ‘Bill’ Bishop was murdered on duty in 1984.

Sue is pictured here with Essex Police Chief Constable Stephen Kavanagh.

A statement on the COPS Facebook page said: “We are sorry to inform you that survivor Sue Bishop passed away yesterday morning (August 28) after suffering a heart attack whilst on holiday in Spain.

“Her son David has asked that we spread the word to her COPS family. Our thoughts are with Sue’s family at this difficult time.”

Speaking in 2013, Sue said it was important to remain a part of the police family after a loved one’s death. She said: “You are not expecting that your partner goes out to work and does not come home again.”

Many tributes to Sue have been paid on Facebook. You can see them here.
