Richard Kotulecki

A belated Happy New Year to you all.

As we already motoring through 2016, I’d like to give you some updates of what is happening in and around the COPS office.

The Three Year Plan that has grown out of all the detail you provided during the consultation has been approved by the Trustees. The plan is available for everyone to see in the documents section of the website (click this link: http://ukcops.org/docs/COPS-Strategic-Plan-2016-18.pdf).

The plan describes in detail the strategic way forward for the charity. It will be updated each year to incorporate progress made and look forward to the next three year period. The plan follows on from last year’s consultation, so once again thank you to all those who contributed. There will, in the future, be further consultations on specific questions facing the charity.

Thank you also for the comments we have received regarding the last newsletter – some people really liked it, some people less so. The range of opinions expressed shows the difficulty in creating something that will be just right for everybody. I am particularly grateful for the honesty, encouragement and constructive tone of any criticism. All your comments, positive and negative, will be incorporated into work for future editions. We would also love to hear your news – let us have your views and stories and we will publish them. We want the newsletter to be everybody’s.

You will have also seen that we are recruiting. We are looking for volunteer speakers for this year’s memorial service. Please do get in touch with Claire for more details or if you would like to be considered. We are also recruiting a part-time Fundraising Coordinator to support the vast number of fundraisers we are blessed to have. The Job and Person Specifications are in the documents section of the website (click this link: http://www.ukcops.org/docs/FR-full-details-2016.pdf). Lastly on recruitment, in the next few months, and as described in the Three Year Plan, we will be recruiting new Trustees, as the first of a number of voluntary appointments in 2016 – details will be announced in due course.

Finally, we will be moving. Unfortunately, just before Christmas we were served with notice on our little office above the hairdressers. We have until the end of January to find a new home. Although I had planned to move offices this year, I had not anticipated needing to do it so quickly. Once we have our new address (which may need to be temporary), we will let you know.

With best wishes
Richard Kotulecki
