COPS 30 miler

MEMBERS of the police family with mental and physical strength and commitment are being asked to take part in a 30 mile, load-bearing ‘yomp’ across rugged Northumberland countryside, with participants running alongside the Royal Marines.

The event is the idea of Simon Guilfoyle and Lee Gosling, both serving Police Inspectors, who have secured official endorsement and logistical support from the Royal Marines.

The aim of the event is to closely replicate the famous 30 mile yomp across Dartmoor that Royal Marines recruits must complete as the final commando test at the end of their training.

The COPS 30 miler aims to raise funds for the Care of Police Survivors charity (COPS), along with the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF). All proceeds will be shared equally between the two charities.

The 2016 COPS 30 miler will be the first of what is hoped will become a high profile annual event – this year’s event will take place in Northumberland on Saturday 20th August 2016, with spaces strictly limited to 50 participants.

If you believe you have the mental and physical strength and commitment necessary to take part in this testing event, then registration is open now for a limited period, please visit for more information about the event and details of how to register.
